How to use Laptop, Netbook and Smart Phone?

The world of personal computing has changed. As per the latest sales sheets, the sales of Desktop computers has gone down and the sales of Laptop computers is on the up. Laptop computers has finally found its place. The situation now turned in to a state that the word computer just denotes Laptop computer only. Like Laptops, the sales of Net-books are also on the rise. People have prepared to take Net-book computer by giving up some of the facilities available in Laptop computers and because of the less price and comfort to carry.

Besides these factors there is another item which is catching up with Laptop and Net-book computers, in sales graph, its Smart Phone. Since the actions performed in a Smart Phone resembles a computer. People have started using smart phones in place of computers. This is the reason why many software applications in parlance with computer application have been prepared by the manufacturers of Smart Phone.

It is worth mentioning here that there is no big variation between the prices of Laptop Computer, Net-book Computer and a Smart Phone. But this is not the way to conclude about the utilities and usage of these items. Depending on the utility and usage of these items, let us try to classify these items:

At first, all these items are classifiable as Mobile utilities:

1. Organizational / Official work: The organizational / official are the very basis of our life. Are you using only computers for this work? Is your organizational / official work is decided by the large word documents, bigger excel worksheets, multimedia presentations, specific software programs that are designed for your organization / office.

Let us see how these mobile items can help you actually.

For the above type of work only a Laptop complete in all aspects can help you. Laptop computers have C.P.U.s with extra power, good R.A.M., undeterred support for you. But, a good business Laptop may cost you twice the amount when compared with Net-books and Smart Phones.

When we consider Net-book computers for organizational / official work, it hs the following dis-advantages viz., slightly less keyboard space, smaller screen, C.P.U. with lesser capacity, less R.A.M. For organizational / official work, the Smart Phone seems to be a good choice but when compared with Laptop speed, its far behind. Therefore, those who need computers for organizational / office work, may consider buying a good Laptop and a better Smart Phone.

2. Household / Studentship work: If you don't have big organizational / official work and if you are a student, then your need for computer may not be that much. Students need for computers are limited to educational tasks like taking notes, browsing Internet, to prepare presentations, to write essays, etc. But these tasks are not confined to a place. For students, the Laptop may be little bit heavier also they have to carry it along with another heavier luggage viz., School / College books. Therefore, students can choose the Net-book P.C. for their usage. The screen and keyboard may not hamper their work much. Because they have enough time to complete their tasks. Though a smart phone may be a good companion to them, it may not help them where they have to use their creativity and hard-work.

3. For browsing Internet: We may need to access Internet often. Some times, it happens that we may go out without any Laptop or Net-book P.C. and we may face some urgent need to browse Internet. Some times, you may need to attend urgent work in Internet wherever you are. Just to browse Internet, the Laptop computers are better choice than Net-book P.C. But for this purpose, a Smart Phone is a better choice than Laptop annd Notebook P.C.

4. For Social Networking: Many of us are now connected by Social Networks and it is done through Internet. These Social Networking websites are very much in keeping contact with our friends and relatives. Also we can update many happenings there in these sites. Some of the famous Social Networking Websites are Facebook, Twitter, Linkedin and Four square. The best method to use these sites are through Smart Phone only. For the instant use of these sites Smart Phones are better choice than Net-book P.C. and Laptop. However, for the following activities Net-book P.C. is considered the best than Smart Phones: to send Photos, to edit Photos, real time chat etc.

The above tasks may vary from individual needs and therefore based on these, you can decide your choice and buy your choice.

How to use flash drive and other removable drives?

Many of us will be having Web Camera, Digital Camera, Mobile Phone, flash drives / USB Drives. But initially we may find it difficult to use these items in our P.C. Here is how it can be used. Please substitute the word ‘flash drive’ with the type of item as said above, which you may want to use.

After booting / starting your P.C., first go to ’Desktop’ and click on the ’My Computer’ icon. After the ‘My Computer’ window opens, just leave it as it is and go to next step. Please insert your flash drive in the USB Port meant for it in your computer. If you are an user of Windows Vista or Windows XP, you may not use any installation driver to open the flash drive. Remember that in case of Web Camera / Digital Camera / Mobile Phone, you may need an installation driver to open the items.

After inserting the flash drive, your P.C. will understand and install the specific driver and then will display a message ‘Found New Hardware’. This message will mostly appear in the right hand bottom of your computer screen. Then if you go to ‘My Computer’ window [which was opened earlier], there you can find a new drive with name ‘Removable Disk [__]’. The disk name in display will contain an alphabet depending on the Hard Disk Drive partition that exists in your P.C. Locate the new drive in ‘My Computers’ window and click on it. Then a new window will open displaying no items. No worries, since it’s a new flash drive, you may not find any items there. If the drive is an already used one, you will find the existing files and other items there. If you want to save any file there in your flash drive, just Drag and Drop the file from its original location. You can also do vice versa to get the files from your flash drive to the Hard Disk Drive of any P.C.

To remove the flash drive from your P.C., just click on the icon in System Tray, which will display ‘Safely Remove Hardware’. Then click on the message, it will display a message ‘Safe to Remove Hardware’. Then remove your flash drive from your P.C.

Please remember to close your flash drive back to its original position by replacing the cap or by turning it back or by sliding it back as per the type of the flash drive.
