What is Resolution?

Resolution is an unit by which the details of pixels are measured in a Monitor or in a printed material.  It denotes the pixels in the Monitor.  For example, in a 17 inch Monitor it will be 1024 x 768 pixels.  In printed materials / Scanner, it will be denoted by 'dpi' or 'dots per inch'.  The 'dpi' denotes the number of dots per square inch in a printed or scanned material.  This is also denoted by the number of dots of ink or toner that is being used to print in a square inch.
